Here's what we know: On January 28, President Trump issued Executive Order 14187, “Protecting Children from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation,” which (illegally) bans medical providers in the U.S. from providing gender-affirming care to any trans person under the age of 19. Last week, the Department of Health and Human Services issued “whistleblower guidelines” for implementing that Order. These guidelines would allow health care workers, clinical staff, and unrelated third parties to report providers who give gender-affirming care to young trans people, even if it meant violating a patient’s privacy. What you should NOT do: We can’t emphasize enough that you should NOT go to the snitch line’s address, follow the instructions, and submit a false report. Spamming the snitch line with false reports could hinder the Trump Administration’s heroic work “protecting children!” Because everyone knows that the “best” “protectors of kids” are the ones who were friends with Jeffrey Epstein! Young Democrats of America's LGBTQ+ Caucus Responds to Donals Trump's Attacks on Trans Rights. In the first week of his second term, the Felon in Chief has prioritized attacking the trans community over finding solutions to even a single real problem facing Americans. Over the last 8 days, the Oval Office has launched attack after attack against our transgender siblings. So far, the President has issued Executive Orders to (1) erase the existence of transgender, nonbinary, and intersex people in the federal government's interpretation of the law, (2) ban trans people from serving in the military, and (3) restrict access to lifesaving and medically-necessary healthcare for young transgender people, to name just a few. The LGBTQ+ Caucus of the Young Democrats of America stands in unwavering support of our transgender siblings and will continue to fight back against these cruel, politically-motivated attacks, including by working to elect pro-trans candidates up-and-down the ballot to reject anti-equality extremism in every election from sea to shining sea. There has never been a world without trans people, and there never will be, no matter how badly extremist politicians and adjudicated sexual assaulters like Donald Trump want it to.
