Book cover of Toadhead by Andrew Lyall. A green cover with the word TOADHEAD at the top and ANDREW LYALL at the bottom. In the middle there is a drawing of a skull with a toad squatting on top of it.
I read Toadhead by @grumpyandrew.bsky.social a couple of months ago and its been lodged in my brain ever since.
I was blown away by Andrew's wonderful prose and the horrific images that it provoked. A perfect slice of horror that's left me wanting more!
Excellent news. π΅

12.02.2026 18:33 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 1 π 1A close-up shot of a small boy and a burly man, crouching behind an armoured pram and staring intently into the distance with looks of furious concentration on their faces.
A beautiful dark-haired woman lies across a sofa or bed (not sure which), an enigmatic expression on her face. Her hands appear to have sharp claws and fur, which is tearing the fabric she lies on.
An illustration of a striking face staring directly at the viewer. Although the features are roughly humanoid, the skin is blue, the large eyes are red, the ear are like crinkled fins, and they are quite bald.
A woman stands to the left of the black and white picture, an expression of calculating triumph on her face as she towers over a television screen showing a middle-aged male politician. In the background behind her are television cameras and reporters.
I've done a bit of spring cleaning on my LinkTree.

19.12.2025 08:22 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Illustrated poster for 'Possession' (1981), cut off just above the chest so that BlueSky doesn't restrict it. Against a chalky blue background, a pale stylised female figure writhes, head back, somewhere between wrenching agony and deranged bliss. Her hair appears to be made of thick silvery tentacles.
With Andrzej Zulawski's astonishing POSSESSION (1981) getting a 4K re-release in the UK, now seems a good time to reshare my article from a few years ago, celebrating the film's 40th anniversary and trying to unravel its strange, scalding mysteries:

Illustration of Snorkmaiden and Moomintroll sitting close together outdoors in a snowy environment, surrounded by pine trees under falling snow. They are wrapped in a red blanket with a white checked pattern and are holding cups with hot beverages. A lit candle sits in the foreground, and a lit lantern hangs from a tree branch in the background.
βThe quiet transition from autumn to winter is not a bad time at all. Itβs niceβ¦to store up your warmth and your thoughts and burrow yourself into a deep hole inside. Then the cold and the storms and the darkness can do their worst.β ~ Moominvalley in Nov, Tove Jansson. πΌοΈ Tove Jansson

I published my second mixed media art picture book, 'There's A Shoggoth In My Bath' a few months after Mulberry Manor in 2020. I had written the story in 2014, and it was going to be illustrated, but decided to go with sculpture/photography instead. youtube.com/shorts/FV6gZ...

My long form musique concrète piece Overtones was released one year ago today - created entirely from my recordings of a 200 year old hand bell being rung, struck and bowed.
To mark the anniversary i'm sharing some download codes for the release.

Illustrated poster for the 1957 film NIGHT OF THE DEMON. Against a stormy night sky, the head and shoulders of a demon dominates the image. His body is dark and shaggy, his ears and horns pointy, and his red-lipped mouth open, with a look of mad glee in his glowing eyes. At the bottom right, a man and woman cower in fear, looking upwards apprehensively...
Join me and @grumpyandrew.bsky.social as we pass each other the runes and invoke Jacques Tourneur's NIGHT OF THE DEMON (1957) for the series-finale episode of The Thriller Cabinet Podcast.
