There is, I suspect, a disconnect somewhere. And so, I decided to ask some questions of my own: the first annual βBPR State of Trade Book Publishing Surveyβ (finally, some industry truth serum!) Link below:

My question: Are they generally happy with their chosen profession, or are they generally happy to have a job in this era of AI? Because in the same article, they write that only 37 percent of respondents would recommend a career in publishing (a figure akin to Trump's approval rating).

I am looking to hire a part-time assistant. Previous assistants have learned quite a bit about the business supporting me (or so they have said). Indeed, my most recent assistant has just graduated into a full-time job in publishing.
