When I hear people (and Planners) say they need more certainty in climate projections before making decisions, this exactly is what always comes to mind! We're pretty certain about climate projections by comparison!

Definitely was not being literal. There's multiple pathways to improved climate resilience for buildings, which have a range costs and benefits and different points in the lifecycle.

There's a tool we use - developed in Canada - to do this type of climate risk assessment for infrastructure, including roads and highways. In fact, lots of case studies to look at how it's been done over decades, including in B.C. pievc.ca

That's correct. Fortunately, it's taught by a Professor of Law who also happens to be an engineer.

About me - started off in engineering and climate mitigation, but have been working on adaptaiton and risk for >10 years now. Living and working remotely from north-eastern Ontario.

Climate Risk Institute works internationally with partners, including GiZ, to deliver risk assessment and adaptation projects and capacity development. Recent and/or ongoing initiatives in Suriname, Cameroon, Iraq, Georgia, Philippines and more.

New courses to be launched next year include a course on risk and adaptation for buildings designers and experts (Led by @rtmlepage.bsky.social), and a course for Forestry Practitioners.

However, we also do a lot of customized capacity development and training for cities, other public agencies and departments throughout Canada, and internationally.

We have courses in climate risk, PIEVC protocol (and infrastructure cliamte risk assessment tool), applied climate science, asset management for climate resilience and more. Our audiences include engineers, architects, planners, and range of other adaptation practitioners.

We manage two overlapping credentials, one of which is the 'Infrastructure Resilience Professional' credential. Much of the training is delivered as professional development (check out our courses at Royal Roads University - pcs.royalroads.ca/climate-risk...)

Introducing myself here as I've smashing that 'follow-all' on multiple climate, risk, climate science accounts over the past few weeks.

Through Climate Risk Institute I work on the development of training programs in the areas of climate risk and adaptation.

One of the main messages of this course is that practitioners *really* need to know their limitations and learn to work with domain experts. Not understanding climate data (let alone *risk* data is an issue. (pcs.royalroads.ca/search/publi...)
