Why Canada must transform its long-term care system The long-term care system is under pressure โ€” both from an aging population and from a workforce in crisis. More humane, sustainable models of care are critical.

Dr Erin McGuire is an award-winning instructor with a passion for experimental archaeology and experiential learning. This summer, they went to Leeds, UK, with a community partner to co-present a talk at the International Medieval Congress on medieval textiles. They are now working with their co-presenter to publish an article on using experimental and experiential approaches in undergraduate courses. These strategies foster deeper learning, hands-on engagement, and community-building. Erin first came to archaeology through medieval re-enactment circles and continues to engage with them when time permits, as the mix of play and research creates an inspiring environment for life-long learning. Erin brings re-enactors and community experts to the classroom and shares their academic research with re-enactment groups across the province. In addition to their teaching, archaeological, and community work, Erin also holds a 4th degree black belt in traditional Shorin Ryu karate.
