This week is spring break, and I’m actually taking time off <gasp!>

There’s an art show focused on birds at my local gallery. Thus the bird-specific class from last weekend.

I might futz with the berries more, but I might submit this one.

Maybe "eat the rich" is too vague of a metaphor that they don't really understand that we don't really want to cannibalize some gross waste of a human being.

Maybe we should adopt something more literal. Like "kill the rich." Or "execute the rich." Maybe they'll understand our anger then.

The simple act of familiarizing the player with a particular map and then demanding they return to it under more pressure than before created a really interesting cat and mouse dynamic where I knew the streets I was escaping to better than my pursuers. Flawless execution.

My favorite moment so far was spending some time in some City streets, moving to the next map to protect a fleeing undercover agent and drawing the heat to yourself, then escaping BACK to the previous map and having to lay traps and do hit and run tactics before escaping to a hideout to wait

You might have to kill a guy, but you have to meet with an informant first to get information about his routes, then take out a supply caravan so his guard is less well-defended, then make your way across a few city blocks and prepare for the assassination itself, then you have to escape to safety

I love the long-form nature of the missions as well. It makes the game feel massive. Your transitioning from map to map in different stages doing different objectives, but like three or four stages might all lead up to the explosive finale mission. You don't just drop in to kill a guy and leave

Aw man, I feel like Sniper Elite 1 gets cooler and cooler the further in you get and the better you understand its mechanics, and I have a feeling a lot of people dropped it early in the game cuz of jank

The crazy action moments feel less forced than the Hollywood-inspired sequels

I've taken to laying them behind me when moving throughout a map

It's very satisfying to get into a firefight and hearing BOOM "ahh!" behind me. No more flanking by bad guys.

Now I just need to figure out why guards can hear me running from 60 meters away in a warzone...

Except, even when giving the wire a WIDE berth, it STILL triggers without me touching it. It has a few feet of triggering space outside of the wire itself.

I might as well just not use them I guess??

Last possible choice I have is placing them OUTSIDE the door in the open

But there's no alternate exit and I can't climb out the window or disarm it without shooting it to blow it up and alert more troops from far away

So I learn from this mistake and next time, instead of placing it in the doorway, I opt for one side of the hallway, leaving me space to exit on one side

...Go up to the third floor, do my thing, kill some dudes, none of them make it to the building. Decide to relocate. Climb down the stairs and my unexploded tripwire is at the door.

Having played the future games, I run right into it and blow the fuck up.

Oops. Well, my fault.

Playing Sniper Elite 1, trying to play it the intended way with strategy and I have found the tripwire traps you can lay are not only annoyingly useless, but rather detrimental to my own health.

So I place them in a doorway to a building I'm holed up in, right? Go up to the third floor...
