You've responded twice, you don't have any *comeback* to a clear and obvious criticism of your defence of genocide.

I think it was Dragon Age Inquisition where a lead dev was talking very positively about how they'd drawn devs from the Dragon Age: Origins modding community and then when asked why Inquisition wasn't moddable there was a pause and then they said "...well you can mod other games."

You strategy has failed at two of the last three presidential elections.

Why are you so insistent upon it when it clearly doesn't work?

You will be completely unsurprised to learn this is in response to someone asking why Harris didn't oppose genocide.

So you've got no actual comeback.

Figures.

The Iraqi government claims:

β€œThe rise in fuel prices and mortgage rates is entirely the responsibility of Israel and its allies in Washington.”

These are deeply ingrained social structures and nobody is immune to accidentally upholding. Because we were raised within them. Sometimes it's just a subconscious thing. Sometimes people don't even know why they are doing it.

But I want us to identify it so we can all do better.

Gottheimer calls Newsom’s Israel apartheid comments β€˜dangerous’ The New Jersey Democrat asked, β€˜Is it really worth throwing Jews under the bus to advance your political ambitions?’

The position that Jewish safety in Diaspora requires lying about the fundamental nature of the state of Israel and the West Bank occupation is deeply unfair and dangerous to Palestinians, but it is ultimately dangerous to Diaspora Jews, as well: jewishinsider.com/2026/03/josh...

If, and this is extremely unlikely, things go so badly for Israel that there's mass exodus (heh) from there to Europe and North America the Israeli exiles are gonna make the Cubans in Florida look like the most reasonable moderates ever.

Just FYI the argument you are making is the same one senior Nazis made at the Nuremburg trials.

That while they actively enabled the Holocaust they were just cogs in a machine, they didn't personally perpetrate the Holocaust so they bore no culapbility for it.

Now it seems bizarre to us because we see moderate liberals opposing even small changes because "we have to meet the public where they are" and thus know they'd probably have thought emancipationism too extreme.

But they think they'd have held their current views at any point in the past.

The very moderate liberals thinking they're John Brown stuff is the most extreme example of that post "liberals always support the previous [good thing]"

They very strongly believe they're good people and history has shown John Brown did a good thing so they conclude they must be like John Brown.

one of the more fascinating stupid politics poster things is the phenomenon of american libs with politics only slightly less retrograde than bill clinton's in 1992 (if that) choosing john brown as their avatar/profile pic. been going on for like two decades now, seemingly independent of each other

Not long after it turned out my parents weren't religious and just felt it was the done thing to go to church with your kids.

So this wasn't an escape from religious tyranny or anything.

As a kid I attended a very moderate protest church service lead by an enthusiastic "cool" youth group and I fucking hated it, it was so forced. At one point we had to write down a prayer and randomly exchange them and do that prayer.

The one I got was someone praying for a motorised go-kart.

Trump nominates far-right Senator Markwayne Mullin to lead DHS, drawing support from Democrats and Teamsters bureaucracy The Oklahoma senatorβ€”who has defended police killings, promoted β€œshow your papers” policing and backed war with Iranβ€”is being embraced by Democrats and the trade union bureaucracy.

Trump’s nomination of Senator & Plumber Markwayne Mullin of OK to head DHS has quickly won the backing of leading Democratic politicians and sections of the trade union bureaucracy, underscoring the bipartisan character of the assault on immigrants & democratic rights.

But by contrast if we decide the only acceptable way to stop atrocities is to convince Comfortables to have empathy for everyone we make stopping the atrocities vastly harder and risk allow atrocities to continue when we otherwise could've stopped or at least minimised them.

09.03.2026 14:40 β€” πŸ‘ 7    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

But by appealing to Comfortables to help stop attrocities because it indirectly harms them you're empowering the argument that if attrocities don't harm them they're fine.

That ~tough decisions~ done to others are good and neccessary as long as *they're* ok.

09.03.2026 14:40 β€” πŸ‘ 6    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

There's always such a tension in making the argument "atrocities committed against the global south/trans people/undocumented people could harm YOU" because it fundamentally downplays the suffering of the people directly harmed.

But Comfortables won't help to stop it unless it harms *them*.

09.03.2026 14:36 β€” πŸ‘ 16    πŸ” 3    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I think people need to somehow consider how they are making the argument that β€œsaying antivaxxers are bad people is a shit take and won’t convince anyone” is intrinsically inconsistent because if that was true you could not convince people who think antivaxxers are shit by calling the take shit.

07.03.2026 12:07 β€” πŸ‘ 107    πŸ” 12    πŸ’¬ 4    πŸ“Œ 2

Not quite the same thing but the same outlook leads Comfortables to think "Kinder Gentler Politics" means the left has to be polite to them no matter what they do.

Anti-vaxxers, bigots etc are seen by Comfortables as real people so they extend them much more grace than they do marginalised people.

Iran calls the United States the Great Satan, but would the Great Satan turn the day into night, create rivers of fire and poison the rain?

We could have dumped $2t into renewable r&d and infrastructure and told the Iranians and Saudis to kick rocks but the rich wanted their slave state playgrounds

To think that this war, killing thousands and immiserating millions worldwide due to the rapid spike in oil prices, is being fought to protect and enable exactly this.

This should for all intents and purposes be treated as a straight up lie and misinformation on the part of the US until proven otherwise

Trump and the British rightwing press have failed to convince Starmer to move Royal Navy aircraft carriers into hypersonic missile range.

Disappointment all round really.

Similarly liberals have aggressively pretended not to understand how supplying weapons and logistical support to Israel made Biden/Harris/Merz/Starmer etc culpable in genocide.
