I was privileged to work closely with Meng-Chao during my early years as a junior PI at Fred Hutch. We worked on centromeric histones and chromosome dynamics. He fundamentally shaped how I think about genome organization. His mind was brilliant, his rigor uncompromising, his generosity boundless. 2/

Deeply saddened by the passing of my colleague, Prof. Meng-Chao Yao, a remarkable scientist and mentor. He left an indelible mark on all of us fortunate enough to know him. His legacy in molecular and ciliate biology will endure. Rest well, my friend. 1/

Figure 1. During homeologous recombination, homologous recombination (HR) proteins antagonize mismatch repair (MMR) in several homology-directed double-strand break (DSB) repair steps, including D-loop formation, capture of the second processed DSB ends, and formation of ZZM-dependent class I crossover (CO) products.

My postdoctor Lavernchy Jovanska (Indonesia) registered ECFG2025. She can't get travel visa to enter Ireland because the visa Department is still processing visa applied before 30th October, 2024. It is a pity that ECFG2025 refuses to refund her registration fee.
