Exactly. She spends half the book at Fiyero's castle torturing animals and ignoring her son. It's bleak and uninteresting. I'm surprised I finished it, had zero desire to read the rest of the series and was glad the musical took very little from the books and made it 1000% better.

A competent publisher would have never published it. It's in the top 3 of worst books I've ever read. It's incoherent, depressingly pointless and worst of all, boring.

I haven't had the opportunity to play anything since 12. Life has gotten in the way and the systems kept staying too expensive to afford.

I never played 10. My BFF in high school spoiled the ending/twist and I never cared enough to try after that. I did play 12, which took me a few years of intermittent attempts because something would get in the way and then I'd forget the plot and start over.

Agreed. Couldn't even finish it it was so bad. I only advanced the plot enough to play the card game.

Likely, there's always a niche. But again, poor quality. The first one wasn't great to begin with. Not like it would require a huge production cost with limited sets, actors etc. But unless a D-movie is framed by Mike Nelson and his robot friends, I'm less likely to watch.

True. But sometimes I wonder if they really make money off of things like this. And if they are, how poor the production value must be to do so.

I was far too young when I watched the first. Traumatized by seeing a naked Tom Skerrit. Had no idea they made two more. Not sure it was a movie worth franchising.

- A few too many extra songs in Part II for my liking, they didn't add enough to the movie to feel necessary

And I think that's it for my overall complaints, with the first two being the biggest, but in the scheme of things, overall minor. Everything else was exceptional.

Thoughts on #Wicked after having seen both parts:

- #KealaSettle was vastly underutilized and should have been cast as Miss Morrible
- #JeffGoldblum deserved his grand solo song and didn't need Ariana Grande-Butera to carry the scene (she was lovely, just not a choice I agree sun)

The sex appeal of #JeffGoldblum is sadly ephemeral. We're watching #EarthGirlsAreEasy, my oldest does not understand the appeal. More for the rest of us I guess, because the thirst is real.

For me to get that perfect warble in my voice, my blood sugar levels have to drop really low.

The second one wasn't even half as good and frankly I wish it had never been made.

Hotly debated topic at work: I think the entire Harry Potter series belongs in the same trash bin as Twilight and 50 Shades. I am the pariah.

Sounds Bostonian

I barely got through the first one. I like dark, and I like satire, but I felt it was unbearable to get through. Read it before I saw/ heard the musical. I didn't even try to read the rest of the series. I much prefer the musical. I think it brings out the satire and politics better.

This is my kind of good trouble.

We don't even do the elves. But some of her friends do. I find the concept exhausting. We don't even do Santa. We've never told the kids that Santa/Tooth Fair/Easter Bunny etc are real.

Aside, the music is terrible. Whoever wrote the lyrics was really scraping the bottom of the barrel.

I really despise these #ElfOnAShelf movies on Netflix. They're religious based consumer pages for extra products. Every single one introduces some story of magical creature that "collects" Christmas magic from kids. My youngest loves them, but every time, she wants one of the new creatures.

Ooh, I did 3 today. My envy is sustained!

My kids are not allowed to use this platform. Long before this happened because the risk of it was enough to make that decision.
