Thinking about drawing and writing. Sickness in the family has been derailing all my Fall plans. I’m not complaining—family is important—but I am discouraged that I’m not better at balancing my needs with others’.

I suppose I should be pleased with that, but I fear it will be filled with typos and gibberish and my readers will finally summon the energy to leave comments, but they'll be condemnations instead of compliments.

I had a brother's wedding last week, and then came down with a cold. I expected the cold because I'm immunocompromised, but I couldn't prevent it. What I didn't expect was getting put behind schedule. Today's #WaiMin episode was a few minutes late.

Early morning writing. Sharp and Cattleya need to despise each other more before I can strip that away and begin the romance. About 600 more words to go.

I wouldn’t have a problem with using AI for editorial input any more than I would with a human editor. I’m the one doing the work. We don’t put disclaimers “This work has been edited by a human.” But using AI to spit out pages of text for your WIP with nothing but a prompt as your labor is lazy. ‬

I can see where that would be tempting to just swipe and use in my work, but I have too much fun writing the dialog myself. ‬

‪The question then is, if you use ChatGPT as an editor, is that AI assisted writing? ‬

‪I suppose it comes down to what “AI assisted” means.

‪One of my characters speaks in a modified Victorian dialect. If I were to use the following, would that be AI assisted writing?‬

‪Me: Rephrase “Get your hands off me, you moron!” as if a Victorian princess said it. ‬
‪AI: "Kindly remove your hands from me, you imbecile!" ‬

"List five other words for 'din'."

If I use ChatGPT as a handy thesaurus, does that count as AI assisted writing? Because I don't feel that it does.

Too tired to write. Need sleep. Perhaps I’ll continue writing in my dreams. It couldn’t be any less coherent than what I’m writing at the moment.
