The proposals are subject to a vote tonight, but based on the recommendations in the paper, it's disappointing that anti-cycling attitudes continue to impact on the ability of local residents to travel safely cheaply and sustainably

It's odd that RBWM are concerned that someone on a bike could "find it difficult to manage their speed" but are not concerned with the same issue for those in control of much larger and heavier vehicles.

Turning to Peascod Street, the factors supporting retaining the ban are higher footfall, busier night-time economy and the gradient of the road. These apply equally to people cycling or driving - remember that permit holders & delivery lorries are permitted at times when the cycling ban applies

We welcome the proposed change for Maidenhead. Whilst we would have preferred the PSPO to address only antisocial behaviour, allowing people to cycle during off-peak hours is a positive step forward

The proposal states that PSPOs should focus on negative or antisocial behaviour, and that the primary concern is "high speed cyclists". The PSPO prohibits all cyclists. This isn't focused on behaviour, but the mode of transport. It doesn't give responsible residents chance to cycle responsibly
