So what? Wars are won through boots on the ground. Not targeted assassinations.

Israel’s — and the US — have a political goal of regime change or balkinzation. They are not close. They refuse to put troops on the ground, because they are casualty averse, so they cannot manage events. This likely ends last like year, with US allies in the region taking a bigger beating.

Constraints? Iran is hitting US bases all across the region. Pounding them. With limited air defense resistance. US allies throughout the region are being shown the US cannot protect them.

Killing leaders =! toppling a government. The US should know this better than anyone.

Airstrikes alone do not win wars. Decapitation strikes do not win wars. Only boots on the ground and risking real casualties can produce a win against an armed and insulated opponent. And even then its no guarantee. You can’t win a war on the cheap. Or with headlines.

Democratic ticket wins in 28 for structural reasons. Negative national sentiment on the economy + feeling country is going in the wrong direction under Republicans. However it will be a challenge to make substantive change, and in 32 Dems could be back in the same boat.
