day 24 - Nosferatu 2024

Ok so this is actually a rewatch. Despite the film's narrative flaws (which I blame on it being too faithful to the source material) I still love this movie a lot. Lily-Rose Depp gives a standout performance. A part of me does wish that Orlok/Thomas was a dual cast role

day 22 - Nightmare Castle

This Italian flick with Barbara Steele in a double role will you have you wishing that you were watching a better movie - namely Black Sunday (directed by Mario Bava, also with Barbara Steele in a double role)

day 21 - mark of the vampire

this film was kind of disappointing. the effects and stuff were very charming and i loved the vampire dad daughter duo (with bela lugosi playing the dad!) but the plot was kind of lackluster.... for a film with vampire in the title it needed more of them

day 20 - black cat double feature!

Who doesnt love boris karloff and bela legosi? also kuroneko by director kaneto shinto was atsmospheric and cool, def need to get around to watching onibaba

day 19 - R. L. Stein's Pumpkinhead

Tubi remains the streaming platform of the people with tons of accessible films from any era in history. This movie was super fun and spooky, although the 90s aethetics tripped me up when I realized it was modern day lol

day 18 - Frankenstein 1931

Bow to the King baby! Thank goodness (or spookiness?) for Boris Karloff who still enchants others even almost a century later.

day 13 - La Llorona dir Jayro Bustamante

For Indigenous People's Day I watched this film. It discusses some important Guatemalan history and while it's been a trend to depict La Llorona as a more tragic figure, I've not been a fan. However this is one La Llorona that I'm rooting for.

day 10 - Die! Die! My Darling/ Fanatic

Famous bisexual Tallulah Bankhead stars in this hagsploitation flix.... Donald Sutherland is also here. I really like this poster

day 6 - Mas Negro que la Noche dir Carlos Enrique Taboada

I watched Taboada's Venenos para las Hadas last year and liked it so much I figured I should watch one of his other films! His films are very gorgeous and a treat for the eyes! This movie kind of gave me a Hausu vibe?

day 5 - Urban Legend

I was looking for another horror film which centered around urban legends and I thought it might've been this one? but it's not, the film i was thinking of was an anthology film of sorts. brad dourif shows up in the beginning gives the best performance then dips lol

day 4 - Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde (1941)

(love this poster btw) so I'm going thru a lil Jekyll and Hyde phase so when TCM aired this the other day I had to watch it. Turner and Bergman are the real stars of this film. I love them. I think they should've teamed up to kill Jekyll/Hyde lol

day 3 - Rain 1932 starring joan crawford

TECHNICALLY not a horror film yes but that one scene with joan crawford and the preacher praying together? chills. a startlingly modern film from 90 years ago this island thriller is about a woman deemed evil by a religious fanatic..... PLEASE check it out!

Day 2- Crimson Peak dir GDT

Yeah so im still dealing with some psychic damage from September so I went with another loved film of mine lol. I promise I'll mix it up soon. Gorgeous dresses, gorgeous setpieces, horrifying ghosts and a deliciously dark love story at the center <3 whats not to love?
