It happens like that sometimes,
In a group of family or friends—
One member
Distances themselves:
They die, or fly away,
And the others must
Adjust: evaluate, regroup,
Or possibly disband.
However it plays out,
Things will surely change,
For each of us,
However small,
Is a vital part of the whole.

Intimidated as we are
By the looming power
Of those who would be king,
We do our best to stay
Grounded, solid, strong
In our ethics,
United in believing in
And protecting the rights
Of our fellow humans.

I have no faith in the Supreme Court. People are either afraid of DT or eager to help him, and SCOTUS helped him get where he is. If they prove me wrong, I’ll apologize.
