I think that’s why we need to do better explaining things. Most people read headlines or an article here and there. Not many have time to research every political issue we face.
And the issue is rarely as simple as good vs bad. How and why and what cost to who, all the details matter.

Also most voters have just never thought remotely seriously about policy. “Should we get rid of illegal immigrants? Well, of course; they’re illegal!” There’s nothing deeper than that going on until they start seeing what that actually entails.

I’m thinking of McConnell’s promise to make sure nothing gets done under the Obama administration. Or under Biden how the border deal was squashed. They vote against the things they agree with. They vote against progress if it hurts “the other side.” We need to fix things and move forward.

I think we have to consider getting rid of it. They trampled all over norms and laws and the constitution. We need to restore integrity and set new parameters for preventing this from ever happening again. We’ll do it legally, but it can only be done without the filibuster.
