I left a community like that a few years ago. What a huge relief.

I do not know why my child is licking the oven door, but she's not currently whining so I'm definitely not going to stop her.

Not really an overstatement to say that the test of a free society is whether or not comedians can make fun of the country's leader on TV without repurcussions.

I've recently taken up quilting with more rigor than the simple squares I'd done before. I keep on thinking of all of those kids complaining in math class "when are we going to use this in real life?"

Fuckin' everything I do all day is math. Work, hobbies, parenting....

Get someone who looks at you the way my toddlers look at flowers (Baby B) and earth moving equipment (Baby A)

That headline is absolute garbage. Shame on the NYT. This isn't about snubbing Kennedy, it's about trying to provide scientificly supported information to families and doctors!

Pocket casts gets it just fine.

The amendment was designed to make you do EXACTLY what you are doing. It put progressives in a no-win situation and you're falling for the fascist trap perfectly.

We could avoid like 60% of all discourse if we normalized dealing with our own discomfort instead of bullying other people to stop making us feel weird.

Softsoap is a common soap brand, yes. It's just commentary on the style of graphic design- it may or may not be AI, but it really does look like the cover for a fantasy romance novel.

Not for all larger lads! Guys with bellies often need a LOWER rise not higher. It needs to stay below my belly!

The high-rise is such a problem for me! It's super annoying. Anything taped above my hips simply does not work the waistband needs to be on my hips! So annoying.

not the main issue here but i'd really appreciate it if democratic politicians spoke out in support of big-city life and culture with the same energy and reverence that all politicians have for small towns

los angeles is "real america" and so are all the other big cities the president hates

Graphs showing 25 years of budgets for the National Institute of Health, NASA, and the NSF. In all cases, the proposed budget for next year is far, far below any year of the previous quarter century.

There are 2 previous historical cases of countries destroying their science and universities, crippling them for decades: Lysenkoism in the USSR and Nazi Germany. The Trump administration will be the 3rd.
It's not just budgets but research, institutions, expertise, and training the next generation.

Just saw a comedian say "If vaccines caused autism then America would have trains" and I almost spit out my drink.

Screen shot of nyt headline. It reads, β€œnot just more babies: these republicans want more parents at home. As for the Trump administration shrinks federal child care programs, republicans are backing polices they hope will allow more parents to scale back at work.

Republicans don’t want more β€œparents” at home. They want women at home, out of the public sphere, economically dependent on men for their whole livesβ€” permanently relegated to second class citizens.

Fixed it for you, NYT.

The massive explosion in use of satellite imagery by archaeologists has led to the discovery of hundreds of thousands of ancient sites and features across the world in the last 25 years, none of which were known about previously due to data resolution+coverage.

This is also a post about autism

That's one of those differences between "politically conservative" and "spends all of their time yelling about brown people."

To MAGA, being conservative but not foaming-at-the-mouth racist is basically the same as being a Marxist. They can't see the difference.

If you come upon two people having an argument and realize that one insists the other should drink a glass of diarrhea while that person refuses to do so, you are not a wise or righteous peacemaker for suggesting they just drink half a glass.

This should be the template for every university’s website: let the public know what they gain from research and what they stand to lose.

Yes! When I'm in areas with good bike lanes, I rarely get startled by wheels on the sidewalk.

Cars are WAY scarier. An Escalade almost ran me and my STROLLER down in a crosswalk recently. Could have killed my kids. Bikes aren't gonna kill my kids.
