According to some Flemish folktales, ghosts live in trees. In one story, nobody dared to go near a pile of rotten tree trunks because it was said to bite and chew. In another, you could only pass a particular tree if you made the sign of the cross first.

After Dark by Wilkie Collins published by Smith, Elder, & Co. for two shillings. The cover art depicts three figures in a dimly lit room, gathered around a table with a lamp. A man is seated and writing, while a woman and an older man stand over him, with the older man pointing at the paper. After Dark is a collection of six short stories first published in 1856. The stories are framed as being dictated by a traveling portrait painter named William Kerby to his wife, Leah, after he is advised by a doctor to rest his eyes to avoid losing his sight. The stories are based on tales he heard from his subjects over the years.

I batch cooked a months worth of meals for my father, and some for us for the week. We washed, tumble dried, dishwasher was on, carpet cleaner, hoover, and dehumidifier went on. We usually only use the oven once a month because its huge, so this was a treat.

Also the earliest sunset time is 16:42 in the southeast of England and the latest is 16:59 in Northern Ireland.

With the clocks going back tonight, it means the sun will rise an hour sooner tomorrow morning 🌅

However, it will also mean that the nights will draw in an hour earlier with longer evenings to come 🌃

CME from the Sun hit the Earth, producing a G2 geomagnetic storm, including faint auroras even in mid-latitudes. As the comet C/2025 A6 Lemmon approaches Earth (in 2 days), the same cloud from the sun affected even the complicated ion tail of the comet. I succeeded with deeper imaging to reveal that moment in the tail as well as the aurora itself. It doesn't happen every day to capture the invisible solar wind in two sky phenomena at the same moment! Camera: Canon Ra, Sigma Art 50mm, f 1.4, ISO 4000, 43x8s.

Yet another outstanding image of Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) by Petr Horálek taken on October 18, from the shore of Seč Lake, Czech Republic.

The pic also captures the aurora caused by a G2 geomagnetic storm that day and the storm's effect on the comet's long ion tail.

Final Twin Peaks Sunday this week at the Northampton Film House. I've loved seeing it on the big screen, it adds so much to the uneasy amotsphere. Big screen Bob! 😬
