I haven’t kept up with One Piece for months now- but one thing I loved about it so far was how completely Luffy believed in himself and the people around him ;;

It’s just very personal to me, and ofc inspiring😭
It can feel so impossible and almost silly to dream for a certain life- especially when the place you’re from and the people who raised you make it feel pointless.
But I think it’s beautiful to want to try anyway,especially for your own happiness.

A character who, despite hopeless odds and not even believing it’s possible, still tries to reach their dreams. Especially if they’d already given up on theirself. Being able to find a single foolish reason to keep trying. To want to fight for their own happiness even at impossible odds.

They both switch depending on their mood.
Ember doesn’t have much of a preference, he just likes being told what to do, but may be expected to top based on appearance.
Cal just wants to have control, but because it’s more associated with topping, he often has to default to that.

Embers always has an rbf unless he’s comfortable. Though once he unmasks, he’s an open book.

Cal is always pretty good at controlling his features. He’s usually aware of how he’s presenting himself and why. But can be genuine if he really trusts you enough to be vulnerable.

Also

When Ember was in his 20s, he had a sort of rival who was also aiming to become captain alongside him. The two had a very messy fwb / rivals thing going on.

(They’re unfortunately yet another old koa OC im reworking, so i haven’t posted them before. This may not even stay canon😭)

Ember was SUCH a nuisance of a prankster as a kid. He messed with people all the time- a lot of adults in town HATED his pranks😭 he and the other kids were pretty mean to eachother too.
He can still joke with or tease friends, but is a lot more serious now, and only does so in good faith.

Earliest oc I can remember consistently drawing was maybe 2015ish?? So 11 years ago
His name was Thunder Mods. An ender dragon guy who liked swords and being mysterious.
He was what got me into making OCs and stories, as well as drawing :)

Maybe Cal could, but only when he’s feeling optimistic. He kind of bullies himself into not believing things that sound silly to him.

Ember just doesn’t get it?? Despite being religious, he thinks of relationships as chance. Love could be found in anyone, so the idea of soulmates confuses him a bit

Ember likes red velvet cake but won’t admit it. It’s not that interesting? But he wont go out of his way to be somewhere fancy enough to have any, so he pretends not to care. But if an event has it, he’ll always end up with a plate at some point.

Ember definitely has a rbf, plus he’s generally closed off and curt towards those he’s not super familiar with. So most palace-goers assume he’s a lot meaner than he is. He’s also not very good at having polite small talk, so he tends to leave a bad impression when he ends things abruptly 💔

It is, however, very important to him that he is loyal. He takes honor very seriously, and will not split himself between opposing parties.
Unfortunately he sees things in a very black and white way at times, and often chooses loyalty to god over his own friends and family.

Cal does NOT like this.

Ember is a different case.
He doesn’t outwardly expect anything of those around him, and more so says it as his job to help others with nothing in return.
But really he hopes the people he cares for also care about him. And is quietly very deeply hurt if they leave or take advantage of him.

Cal was actually hesitant to approach Ember after he left for the military. But he told himself that maybe Ember didn’t mean to leave him, and was just very cautious in their first reunions.
Embers coldness made it really difficult for Cal to open up, though- or even admit he wanted to reconnect.

This is why he hates his dad so much, even if he remains for the sake of survival.
He can partially understand why his father is the way he is, but no amount of change will ever convince him to trust him again. Not when he wasn’t reliable in the past.

Cal is VERY particular about who he surrounds himself with, specifically to prevent this before it happens.
He can be friendly acquaintances for the sake of his social standing, but he will be openly cold or hostile if you manage to deceive or harm him.
He does not forgive and forget easily.
