Contrary to a diglossia argument, a Kazakh message is perceived mire reliable. The causal effect, however, is dominantly driven by aged subjects who experienced the Soviet time (over 40 yrs). Young subjects donβt respond the same way.

We conclude that our findings suggests a generational gap in recognizing the Russian language: old generations are reminded of the colonial time by Russian communications, while young generations not.

Working on another manuscript that reports an experiment: partisan voters become generous to the opponent party when manipulated to believe their party will win in an upcoming election. A simple prospect (and belief) of winning can reduce out-party animosity among voters *with tolerance*.
