Clock ticks on WA income tax proposal amid Democratic divisions In a campaign letter, Gov. Bob Ferguson suggested the clock might run out this year before lawmakers can produce a version of the so-called "millionaires tax" he approves of.

It would be easier to get these WA House Dems who are hemming and hawing on the millionaire's tax to support it if tax revenue was dedicated to K-12 public schools, thus activating an army of parents and teachers in their districts.

Instead #waleg wants to do this on extreme difficulty mode.

This is my beef with the Rainier View selection! They could have picked a SE school that offers both. 😭 Wing Luke would have been an ideal location (central, new building with high capacity)

I'm open to differing opinions about this, my point is that it's unclear! If the board wants us to contact district staff directly about certain subjects, they should spell that out on the website (also tell us who to contact so staff aren't getting bombarded by random parents).

I think there is confusion as well about how much direct access parents are supposed to have to district high level staff.

I'm not going to be regularly emailing district staff, they don't work for me, also that doesn't scale. The person who DOES work for me is my elected board representative.

Did not appreciate her call to the board to be less performative as she went way over testimony time.

Fun fact, my 3rd grader at Thurgood ALSO was the most sad about no longer going to RBCC after school care. They have a really special program there.

That said, I'm crossing my fingers that the location does well, and also that we can focus on neighborhood school support so that there's less need for an HC cohort to grow.

Bottom line, I want SE Seattle students to have as much academic rigor and opportunity as other parts of the city!

Without a multi-year view, I frankly do not believe them that Rainier View has enough room to accommodate any growth in an HC program there.

I'm also a pragmatist and acknowledge that people in Rainier Valley do not drive south for schools, especially if they commute into the city for work.
