DEVELOPING: Mayor Michael Vargas just told Perris, CA residents to shelter in place and ignore door knocksβ€”ICE is sweeping the streets.

This country’s war on immigrants is a war on all of us. Don’t look away.

We were going through some sort of website transfer thing recently, but I thought that was over. Maybe it's not? I hope they're not getting swept, I was just referencing a handy chart last week and thought I should download it because I didn't have a copy saved. Hopefully it's not too late...

Forest Service leadership is full of complacent wimps. They won't stand up for the hardworking people at the Forests and Districts. It's been a problem for a while, and now they'll just let this admin walk all over them until the agency dissolves.

I think a lot about how in the U.S. we have had nearly no commemoration or collective grieving over the losses we had due to Covid-19.Millions of people have had their grief dismissed and ignored and were forced back into a society pretending it never happened. How much could we have healed society?

Who still thinks it is at all reasonable to have any business dealing with or, worse, dependencies on this clown?

First, First, First.

Who imagined celebrating β€œfirsts” would be an act of #resistance in 2025?

To honor #InternationalWomensDay here are key β€œfirsts” for women of the Forest Service.

I’ve been experiencing my country’s collapse and lapse in values too much. Mental break time!

Today I am investing in posting some everyday joy onto this platform instead, spending some time creating what I want to see in the world.

Since so many people liked the last photo, here is one of the craziest beach photos I’ve taken. This was at a stormy sunrise. No filters, even in real life this looked unbelievable. #epicview #westcoast #photography

None of us can be sure what will β€œwork.” You try multiple things and find your way in. Read some histories of the Civil Rights Movement by those who participated. They were never β€œsure” of what would work. Some campaigns fizzled out. But persistence, creativity, determination, and focus were key.

The beach near sunset, the clouds are splitting the sun into rays upward, the sky is blue and yellow and reflecting off the wet sand of the beach. Large rocks of varying sizes stick up on the horizon.

Though all those things may be true. Bragging about not being in distress while people are frantically fighting our way through this seems snarky and hurtful. These are real humans cut off from their income, in a place they can’t afford to live, watching their sacrifices and values get trampled.

You know what would improve mental and physical health outcomes in the US? Making sure kids aren’t homeless and get meals consistently, affordable or universal health care, local low cost food systems, time and space for people to grow and cook food. They will provide no real solutions.
