Chiffchaff singing its creaky door song in the garden. The first one I have heard this year. Under the trees pretty Narcissus bulbicodium 'White Petticoat' has opened; tiny creamy trumpets lying on the grass awaiting bees. A gloomy start today but we were promised sunshine. โ๏ธ

22.02.2026 10:49 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I will pot them on like a normal tomato as they grow. They stay as small bushes so end up in medium sized pots. I am not good with sizes but I used pots that young roses came in last year
22.02.2026 09:57 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0no. They germinate well if you give them heat like a chilli. The plants grow well & get quite large (3ft by 3ft) so you don't need many. Delicious though
22.02.2026 09:54 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I keep my vegetable seeds in old tins. This tin is for seeds to sow this month. It is large enough for most seed packets & has air holes for ventilation. Today I am sowing micro dwarf tomatoes to sit in pots on the windowsills & give some early fruits that taste of summer ๐ ๐ฑ
22.02.2026 09:30 โ ๐ 25 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 4 ๐ 0Much milder day but still very muddy. I stood ankle deep listening to the gentle trilling of a Redwing in one of the fruit trees. Such a lovely song ๐ถ

Another grey day though my barometer suggests better weather on the way (the forecast says light rain). As the early spring days lengthen my first chilli, pepper & aubergine seeds have germinated & I shall be sowing onions, celery & celeriac this weekend.๐ฑ
