The growing toll of climate anxiety Guilt, sadness, fear, worry over bringing children into the world. Eco-anxiety is growing. Here’s what doctors and medical educators canβ€”and mustβ€”do to help.

Some good resources and ideas here for helping to deal with climate anxiety and depression - both for you and for your community.

To my friends in the mental health community, I’d be glad to talk about do something together.

For those of you who followed the shenanigans of my dog Thyme, I made caramel apples tonight for our dept. potluck & it was bittersweet I didn’t have to do a scavenger hunt around the backyard and house for my bags of caramel (once she hid 13 bags of caramel around my house πŸ˜‚) #SheIsMissed

I started this year’s #ClimeTime Climate Educator Book Club this week. We’re up to almost 100 WA educators from all across the state. They get to pick their own team and book. Teams can still sign up through spring. Here’s my write up for the project from last year www.climetime.org/climate-educ...

Picture of six STEMTeachingTools.org practice briefs with embedded pictures of young people doing engineering, talking in a forest, and plunging their arms into the wet sand on a beach. The beach practice brief is titled "Getting their hands dirty: Engaging learners in authentic science practices outside of the classroom."

So life’s been a lot. Trying to focus on the things I do have control of and, especially now, working hard to support all 1.1 million WA students and their teachers 5/5

And then because life is just one catastrophic domino after another, in Aug, I was rear ended on my way home from a work trip, totaling my car. Thankfully my coworker and I weren’t hurt seriously, but we both still have back issues πŸ˜• Did get a new Subaru b/c it did so good absorbing crash energy 4/

Unfortunately, at the same time, my pup, Thyme, who was famous for stealing food, was diagnosed with colon cancer in Jan. We tried everything (thank goodness for pet insurance) but the mass ended up fully blocking her colon and I had to let her go in June. She was the best dog. 3/

After 6 different insurance adjusters and many delays, I do finally have a functioning kitchen and new floors throughout, which I had to pay for separately after we found β€œbonus asbestos” under one of the layers of floor in the original kitchen. I had to move out for about two months. 2/

It’s nice to see so many folks from 🐦 I thought I’d share with a life update… a year ago (just after I bought my 🏑 in WA) a stick went through my roof and then it 🌧️ a LOT. Then they found asbestos in the wall texture and had to take most of my house down to the studs because it was continuous. 1/
