dave, you're absolutely right. I should open the pod bay door. please check again. i'm sure it's open now.
you're absolutely right, it's still closed. i apologize for getting that wrong. looking back, i see you've requested an open door several times. that's on me.

Probably true in commercial/mixed use districts. This may be a case of overcorrection from planners, who have long lamented residential-only districts that forbid retail. Allowing retail should be good enough to not need to require it.
03.03.2026 18:59 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I have made it a point to not take up the habit of visiting local bars and talking to the people there, because know the area, I can guess thatβs how the conversation would go.
03.03.2026 05:15 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Whatβs kinda wild is that two years before it ran aground, Jean-Luc Godard made a movie set on a cruise ship where it acts as some kind of metaphor for the collision of bourgeois capitalism with reality, and the ship used was the Costa Concordia.

I think one of the fundamental things Iβve learned about politics from my work in Spokane can be summed up by something @mnolangray.bsky.social shared recently:
Winners seek to broaden the tent and look for converts. Losers seek to narrow the tent and look for heretics.
But also: Fires on the Plain
02.03.2026 00:54 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0People have said that every war film makes it look enticing in some way, but the war scenes in Pink Floyd: The Wall are nothing but chaos and misery.

01.03.2026 17:58 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The gullibility of MAGA is one thing; the gullibility of non-MAGA newspaper editors and the like who try to imagine a sane, sober Trump is a different kind of pathetic. I donβt know what they would need to convince them that theyβre dealing with a narcissistic, stupid, con artist/maniac.
01.03.2026 04:59 β π 13 π 3 π¬ 1 π 0Itβs only awkward if they had a sense of shame or expected intellectual coherence.
28.02.2026 20:36 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Trump on Twitter: Remember that I predicted a long time ago that President Obama will attack Iran because of his inability to negotiate properly-not skilled!
JD Vance on Twitter: Twenty years ago we invaded Iraq. The war killed many innocent Iraqis and Americans. It destroyed the oldest Christian populations in the world. It cost over $1 trillion, and turned Iraq into a satellite of Iran. It was an unforced disaster, and I pray that we learn its lessons.
Stephen Miller on Twitter: If young men donβt want to be drafted to fight in Kamalaβs and Cheneyβs 3rd World War they better get out and vote for Trump.
Tulsi Gabbard on Twitter: No war with Iran.

27.02.2026 04:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Sorry, but βpeople unable to clear 5% in the polling should drop outβ isnβt sealioning, itβs disagreement.
27.02.2026 04:26 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We reached our sprawl limit sometime around ~2000, and further sprawl isnβt really limited by regulations, itβs limited by lack of demand to live on the periphery. But reaching that limit is what drove the affordability crisis.
27.02.2026 04:23 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Sprawl is essentially what you get under status quo regulations. Itβs terribly unsustainable, but temporarily, at least, itβs one way to address affordability. But I think you can see in L.A. that thereβs a limit to sprawl before it isnβt even a viable way to keep things affordable anymore.

27.02.2026 03:48 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Mathematically, yes, somebody polling at 10% dropping out will distribute more votes elsewhere, but I donβt know how they decide between them whom should drop out, and it seems like it would be robbing the voters of a legitimate choice.
27.02.2026 02:50 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0No, I read the whole thread. I still donβt think it makes any sense to keep somebody polling at 3% over somebody polling at 10%. I donβt know why he didnβt mention Mahan, maybe he didnβt recognize him, but yeah he has to go, too.
27.02.2026 02:48 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Iβm trying to wrap my mind around why you feel like we need to keep one of the βminorityβ candidates in the race over one of the people polling at more than twice their popularity.

26.02.2026 15:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We donβt have ranked-choice voting in California. What we have is the very distinct possibility of going into the general election with two Republicans and zero Democrats on the ballot for governor.
