Here’s my main sona’s ref sheet. Some of the information is outdated and I’m not posting the ref sheet of her protogen form because I want to redesign it.

Anyways, the production of drawings isn’t the only thing that makes Bluesky time consuming. Firstly, the alt texts on each image I posted as of the Latias and Latios fanart (I think) are quite detailed and thus take a lot of time to write (don’t forget I have to double check them to ensure they have no mistakes). Secondly, interacting with posts also eats a decent amount of my time up. FYI, I do it 3 times a day and one of them involves checking posts from people I don’t follow so I have to check if their accounts are SFW/alright for minors (which adds even more time). Anyways, that’s another reason why I don’t want to interact with posts on Bluesky anymore. Now, I want to give you some context on why I am doing these work-like activities in the first place.

So, years ago, I really wanted to go on social media (more specifically, YouTube) to get famous and earn lots of money like those big YouTubers. I eventually got a YouTube account and three years later, I got a Twitter/X account since I was good at drawing. I’m pretty sure that I also wanted to get famous on Twitter/X. At some point in 2024 (I think), I no longer wanted to use social media to earn lots of money and instead wanted to use it to show what I’m capable of to the world. In October 2024, I got my own Bluesky account to post art there too as a lot of people were going on Bluesky. Anyways, I’m not really that passionate about showing my work to the world on a social media site where you can’t really post whenever you want. This is because I’m forced to do it under a time limit of sorts. As a result, I can’t do things that I want to do and it’s not fun.

So, this is why I no longer want to be active on Bluesky. Despite sounding like I no longer want to use it, I’ll still be using it to keep up with the latest posts from the accounts I get notifications from. I don’t have to really worry about that because they don’t pose too much of a risk to my mental health. I’ll also still be using Bluesky to block bots and the like because I still don’t want them following me. These are the only things I’ll be using it for. Don’t worry everyone. I’ll still be active on Reddit and Discord (but I won’t be posting art there). On Reddit, I’ll be posting about my joke sona in a relevant subreddit (don’t worry, my main sona FoxGalah will still be getting enough attention through being my profile picture). Also, keep in mind that my content on Reddit will be more mature than my other socials. On Discord, I might not be posting anything and instead solely use it to chat with friends due to mental health reasons (I also won’t accept friend requests unless I’m comfortable enough).

I might return to Bluesky if things get better for me. Only time will tell whether I’ll return or not. Ok everyone, this is the end of this big announcement and I hope you all understand. Hello everyone. Sorry if this upsets you and sorry for posting this close to New Year’s Eve but I don’t think I want to use Bluesky anymore. Allow me to explain why. The first reason is because it impacts my mental health significantly. Sometimes, I will see things (I’m going to call them that for simplicity’s sake) that upset me a lot. They affect me for a few hours to multiple days and cause me to do things that worsen the situation to cope. Even after they’ve “finished” affecting me, they can still affect me regardless via memories. I could just not look at any posts to stop me from encountering these things but the problem with Bluesky is that in order for your posts to get attention, you have to interact with other people (unless you’re popular, which I’m not). This means I’m practically forced to interact with others. Plus, not engaging with posts could make me look bizarre or like a bot.

Anyways, you may be saying “Why can’t you just mute specific words to stop you from seeing these bad things?”. Well, first of all, I do mute these words and second of all, it’s because muting them does not eliminate the risk, just reduce it. Posts featuring the things (as long as they don’t have the muted words) and other stuff with them (e.g user descriptions) can still appear. In other words, there’s no way to get rid of the risk. Plus, some of the words that these things have stress me out just by looking at them. This means that it’s difficult at best to mute those words or block users that stress me out (yes, some of these things are people (not intending to cyberbully any of them)). So, before we move onto the second part of this announcement, let me tell you some other stuff about those things so you can get a better idea of how bad they are for me.

One particular incident of a thing encounter that still frustrates me to this day was seeing one after a night drive. I love going out at night due to how amazing and technological everything looks but seeing this thing after the drive ruined it for me. Moving on from that, the last time I’ve seen some things on Bluesky was, heartbreakingly enough, Christmas Eve. I saw multiple things and it got so bad that I couldn’t sleep that well that night, it could’ve ruined my Christmas and my parents banned me from social media for 3 days. The latter reason is why I’ve been “ON A BREAK” as of late. Unsurprisingly, these reoccurring mental health problems are the main reason I want to now leave Bluesky. So, the second reason is because despite the fact that I have no due date for when my drawings come out or the fact that they’re less time consuming by being traditional, Bluesky still feels like work rather than a hobby.

As you might’ve guessed, producing the drawings is still quite time consuming due to their complex art style and how fussy I am. Additionally, just like when I used to only do digital art, it also prevents me from doing activities I like. The most notable one is doing other drawings for fun. I used to often do this and it felt quite good. But until I had my break, I could no longer do it and I missed it. However, you may be saying “You can post whenever you want, meaning that you can make it not so time consuming by working on drawings whenever you want.”. Well, this is true, but IMO, I feel like there’s a pressure on Bluesky to not post too infrequently. This is because posts are only “easy” to find for a short time and not posting enough could make me look strange. Due to this, I can’t really work on drawings whenever I want. Plus, there’s also the pressure of coming up with new ideas.

You should start off by making a sketch lightly using pencil. This will allow you to fix any mistakes. When you’ve finished your sketch, do the actual drawing on top of it. A sketch of one of my drawings is pictured below.
