The incoming team (Danielle Lupton- Lead Editor; Yasemin Akbaba; Guadalupe Correa Cabrera; Rosalie Arcala Hall; Kristina Hinds; Jeff Lantis) is now managing all new submissions, while our team manages manuscripts in the various stages of the review/revision process as of Nov. 1.

We are especially grateful to our wonderful editorial board members, whose many substantial contributions have been instrumental in this progress; we thank you for all you have done to help and support our team during our editorship.

As we began our term, ISP averaged around 100-120 original manuscript submissions per year. In our final year we exceeded our goal of 200 submissions with 203 total submissions.

Goal 5: Increase the number of submissions, with a target goal of 200 total submissions annually.

In our final year, 52% of ISP’s published articles were authored/co-authored by women and 64% had at least one female coauthor. In our first year, 35% of authors were from North America, but in our final year, that concentration shrank to 25%.

As we began our term, 46% of ISP’s published articles were authored/co-authored by women, and 52% of submissions had at least one female coauthor.

Goal 4: Increase the diversity of submitting authors.

Our team expanded the ISP board to 53-members from every region of the world. Our team also enlisted the expanded board to assist with recruitment or reviewers and manuscript submissions, pre-submission review processes, and outreach to international associations and conferences

Goal 3: Expansion of the diversity and activity of the ISP editorial board.

We: a) established a pre-submission review process with feedback from a senior scholar to strengthen a promising manuscript before the formal peer review process; b) used “unsubmit” to pause a submission, offer our own guidance for strengthening it and improving its fit for ISP.

Goal 2: Developmental Mission to support scholars from the Global South and junior scholars.

As we began our term, ISP's average time to first decision was 65 days (excluding desk rejection) and 31 days (including desk rejection). In our final year, we improved efficiency to 56 days (excluding desk rejection) and 18 days (including desk rejection).
