My old 82-year-old Neighbour worked his whole life on this farm… He had pruned all of the roses for years.

He suggested planting the lavender to protect the roses from deer .. alliums also work apparently

Your garden also looks special – I remember seeing dear in your garden recently. Must be a lovely place for your boys to grow up.

It was… And also I was pleased that I planted lavender at the edge of all my flower borders four years ago. Assumed the deer had stopped coming in… But this showed the lavender had just stopped from eating my flowers
