I never would have believed, when I was writing my book back in January through March, that by October some of the things I imagined would be unfolding in real life.

That’s the dilemma, isn’t it? You’d rather avoid the provocation, spare the danger of the label — but there comes a point when silence itself becomes a form of cowardice, and the refusal to name a fascist is its own kind of surrender.

In a perfect world, one would never have to call anyone a fascist. In a perfect world, of course, there would be no fascists to name.

If only Miller had the guts to state his intentions plainly instead of smuggling them beneath a thin veil of suggestion.

Look, people lose their minds when you use the F-word. But this is just one more piece of evidence in the growing pile — him basically saying, “l’État, c’est moi.”

It amazes me how easily the public has come to accept masked government stormtroopers acting as political enforcers in American cities.

The Democrats’ political problem is they actually care about the Americans the GOP is trying to hurt. Politically, they’d be better off just letting Republicans suffer the consequences of their own votes.

The GOP can frame it as ‘Democrats just want to give healthcare to undocumented immigrants.’ But when a red-state couple making $85k gets hit with a $25k annual bill for coverage, no talking point is going to save them from the backlash.

Resistance group blowing things up—check.
High-stakes chase scene —check.
Action with a dose of humor—check.
Government crackdown in a rural town—check.
A worn-down hero struggling to save his 17-year-old family member—check.

Thanks for the encouraging words, Leanne. I’ve just about got my query package ready. That part has been harder for me than writing the actual book. And I’ve heard the odds are long with agents. So I’m going into it with a good understanding of what I’m up against.

I’ve got nine different POVs and four or five interwoven plotlines. It’s not some simple A-meets-B, they do a thing, and then C shows up to stir the pot.

Ok. I’m done venting now.

I had no idea how any of this worked before I wrote the book. I thought you just sat down, spent a year or so writing, and then reached out to publishers to see if they were interested. Turns out—that ain’t how this thing works. Lol!

A huge thank you—truly. Every note you gave me made an impact, and I acted on all of them. One of the biggest rewrites in the book came directly from your analysis, and it made the story so much stronger.
