I'm approaching 1,000 notes in my Obsidian vault, and there's a good chance I'll get there by the end of March. Once I post my quarterly graph, I should probably make plans to audit my vault and remove less useful information.

I don't personally understand the need to compartmentalize stuff like writing, coding, or research, but you do you.

What benefit is there to that?

Themes would probably suit changing the look of Obsidian better. You can also make your own custom CSS snippets if that's something you're comfortable with (I personally have a few for some minor tweaks).

Obsidian releases binaries and installers with every release, which is not the same as its source code.

As per the obsidian-releases repo's README: "Obsidian is not open source software and this repo DOES NOT contain the source code of Obsidian."

I shouldn't be too surprised, he's just explaining that Obsidian doesn't work well for him since its collaborative features are meh compared to Notion's. Fair enough point; sometimes Obsidian users can be a bit overzealous in recommending it (even I'm guilty of this).

I gotta check this out, this can only be good

Though I'm not really sure how I feel about it. I really hope Ente will have the resources to develop all of these new apps, as it'd really suck if updates to Ente Photos had to slow down due to resources being overstretched.

Generative AI includes LLMs iirc, but ig it might be too general. I don't know if image generation exists for it, but I really hope not.

I'm under the impression that it's mostly just a chatbot right now. They seem open to more specialized uses in the future but I'm not really confident it'll be all too useful in its current state.

@ente.io just launched a new product called Ensu, a local LLM app.

I wasn't really expecting them to go in the direction of generative AI, but I guess it makes a bit of sense since machine learning exists in Ente Photos to make search better.

waow, it's beautiful

TagStudio was interesting, though I never really ended up using it very much. Obsidian's approach to metadata with properties seems like the obvious choice over making ΓΌber complex tags or whatever (not that it isn't cool, but properties make more sense to me tbh...)

He gets a lot more attention than I do, but shoutout to @cyanvoxel.com and his awesome videos on Obsidian for helping me kickstart my roughly 1.6 years of using it so far.

My only other idea would've been to enforce a single color (maybe one that integrates with themes) for every icon so it's guaranteed to contrast, but idk how feasible that would really be, so...

03.03.2026 03:24 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I'd keep a background if there'll be issues of contrast without them

Oh god, I've just realized how screwed I would be if my Bitwarden account was ever shut down or deleted. I have faith they're a good steward of my data in general, but I *really* should make a backup soon just to be safe.

In person. As part of a U.S. history course I'm taking, he came to give his own insight about how things have changed in Congress ever since he took office. We're getting pretty close to learning about our modern history, since we're starting the Cold War pretty soon.

I don't really know a whole lot about him and his policies, but he did come off as more of a traditional Republican rather than a MAGA Republican.

Dusty Johnson

He's also going to run for state governor, so he probably won't be able to do much about it from his position there (assuming he gets elected).

02.03.2026 17:00 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Well probably not much. He talked about how he'd definitely support any sort of privacy package, but noted that it's difficult to pass due to opposition from certain lobbying groups.

02.03.2026 16:55 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

That led to him expressing concerns that a well-funded, highly sophisticated tool could probably pull up just about any information you could want about anybody.

02.03.2026 16:48 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

He also apparently asked ChatGPT to roast him, and it got very personal with the insults. He was concerned that, for a free product, it knows a weirdly large amount about him despite little usage on his part.

02.03.2026 16:47 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

He's genuinely astounded at how both young and old people seemingly do not care AT ALL about digital surveillance.

02.03.2026 16:44 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I don't usually have a whole lot of faith in politicians, but he does have a very similar sentiment to me.

got to ask a local congressmen about digital surveillance

Not natively, no. I think I recall hearing about some plugin or tool that let one access their vault on the web, but I can't quite remember it.
