One thing I noticed recently is that on main story quests if you skip, itll give a summary of that scene for content too. In case you want to give it a try at a lower msq part. Chixia (...I think im spelling her name right) I tended to skip scenes of because they were so long winded.

Initial story and voice is meh. But it gets better in my opinion, especially with the new arc. Best thing though is you can skip cutscenes :D so if it gets too blah you can skip and keep going.

Reality is that the SAG contract isnt the only way for AI protections. As Hoyo is Chinese IP as well, I doubt they'll ever go union. As much as I dont want more VAs recasted, the fact union even gave approval for prior contracts pre-Strike to continue means they risk a recast for solidarity sake.
