If you've ever collaborated with wet lab scientists as a bioinformaticianβ¦
youβve heard this. And died inside a little.
Out now: the study on human inflammatory cardiomyopathies after SARS-CoV-2 infection and COVID-19 vaccination led by researchers from @mdc-berlin.bsky.social/@dzhk.de/CharitΓ© Berlin with tiny contribution from us @mdc-bimsb.bsky.social β short summary below. β¦ (1/5)

A group of Berlin researchers and international colleagues have found differences in heart inflammation caused by COVID-19, vaccination, and heart disease. The results pave the way for more personalized therapies, they report in "Nature Cardiovascular Research.β

Last but not least:
Tremendous effort to successfully obtain the quality of the data, the resolution and depth of insight we got out of these tiny endomyocardial biopsies!
Take home messages:
π‘Post-COVID-19 Myocarditis: High IFNy levels, cytotoxic CD8+ T cells and endothelial dysfunction.
π‘Post-vaccination: Increased IL6/IL18, CD4+ T cell infiltration, milder inflammation.
π‘Common features: Macrophage activation, angiogenesis and fibroblast alterations.
It's out! π Our latest publication on cardiac inflammation! We studied immune and cellular responses upon #myocarditis in non-COVID-19, Post-COVID-19 and post-vaccination myocarditis.
