Telling Keith Chegwin first live on Radio One is a hilarious way to blow your cover to the rest of the band.

Black text in a white field reading:

The whole of our science is based upon empirical, repeatable experiments. Whereas thought is not in that category, you can't take thought into a laboratory. The essential fact of our existence, perhaps the only fact of our existence - our own thought and perception is ruled off-side by the science it has invented. Science looks at the universe, doesn't see itself there, doesn't see mind there, so you have a world in which mind has no place. We are still no nearer to coming to terms with the actual dynamics of what consciousness is. In questing after artificial intelligence, we seem only to have learnt that normal intelligence is so far beyond our comprehension.

I've got to focus here, focus on food, I tend to forget to eat when I'm not sleeping so I should shove something satisfying down my neck.

They needed the money I think. He turned up on R1’s early Saturday morning show for *us kids* att saying he’d had to sell his record collection because the band were broke. So he became a novelty pop star for a bit.

If I might ask one more thing to be Aware of (for March only, don’t tax yourselves),people with LC are not hypochondriacs, they are not anti-social, they did not want an excuse to isolate forever, they are not doomers, and they are not faking.

They are sick, so being an asshole to them is beastly.

In Joseph Southall's painting in watercolour of the Fowey estuary in Cornwall (1924) is cropped like a photograph, the expanse of water is painted with the precision he gave over to his pictures made in tempera.

Before becoming the fantastic designer we know, Ron Cobb (Alien, Total Recall, The Last Starfighter, Aliens, Back to the Future, The Abyss, Rocketeer, Space Truckers, Firefly...) was a cartoonist in the late 1960s.

With the same talent.

That was Justin and the whole exercise was tongue in cheek, complete with hilariously terrible questions which the panel made scathingly funny or bemused remarks about. Dick said that maybe their jobs were safe for another week.

- Hi, Irwin! Great! I’m juggling five projects, trying to get a deal for Hiero, Joanne and Paul coming for dinner, sailing to Malta, keeping the trouble’n’strife happy!
- Well, have I got a movie for you! It’s called The Swarm-

Hearing β€œyou can beat this!” said to people with major illness always irks me

Really? We handing out homework? Meet at the ribbon walk? Extra kale?

It’s not a fight, it’s a person falling victim to an aggressor, and even our platitudes imply that for lack of fighting they are partly to blame

Bought for 30p in my local newsagent in spring 1977 back when they had a small bookcase of children’s books in the side window. My intro to Mac Hulke’s nuanced perspectives and delicately imaginative humanitarianism, and talking lizard people.

it is mad that Iran has had supreme leaders named both Khomeini and Khameini. it's be like having both a Bevan and a Bevin, or a George Brown and a Gordon Brown, or two curly haired lead actors named Baker

Okay I feel like this is going to come up a lot in the next 24 hours so let's just clear this up:

Ayatollah Khameini, the Iranian supreme leader allegedly killed today, is/was *not* the same person as Ayatollah Khomeini, the supreme leader who came to power in the 1979 revolution.

It’s just insane that almost the entire world put so much effort, time, and careful diplomatic work into brokering the Iran Nuclear Deal in 2015, and one asshole president just…tossed it in the trash to do this instead. That should not be possible.
