Is the root of β€˜Ruse’ derived from Russia? Putin’s control is a decoy. It’s really Qatar-Qatar-Qatar that has something on him. What could it be?

Favorite Zero role: Max in the Producers or Pseudolus in A Funny Thing Happened… or The Spellbinder on Electric Company? I first saw him in The Hot Rock with Robert Redford (1972) & worked my way back. He sent this in 1974 -75 before The Front (1976), a role drawn from his blacklisting experience.

He also confronted the HUAC on ideological matters, something rarely done. He referred to Twentieth Century Fox as "18th Century Fox" (due to its collaboration with the HUAC), & manipulated the committee members to make them appear foolish. What would he have made of Para-muck & Dis-gust-ney today?

A Not So Funny Thing Happened On The Way to Zero Mostel’s career. In 1955 he declined to name names to the HUAC, jousted with Congress, invoked the Fifth Amendment & stood up for his right to privacy of his personal political beliefs. His testimony won him admiration among the blacklisted community.

Trying to evoke the Patton (1970) speech in front of the big flag.

Instead it was Put-on. (Putin?)

Fat-ton.

Still, he caused good trouble against the forces of fascism for a long time and gave generously to the cause. His was the first signed photo I received in 1972, before his last role in Soylent Green (1973). At that time I knew him best from Night Gallery, Laugh-In, and a Batman "window" cameo!

Nearly 75 years later it's hard to understand how government/media/entertainment industry's fear of the perceived Communist menace caused Emanuel Goldenberg from Romania (Mr. Robinson) and others to undermine the values of free speech, freedom of association, and other constitutional guarantees.

It's complicated. Edward G. Robinson embodied tough gangsters beloved by current White House. IRL "during the 1930s & 40s, "he was an outspoken public critic of fascism and Nazism." Then he named names to the HUAC during the 50s Red Scare - & wound up in Red Channels, blacklisted by major studios.

Paramount Television 50 years ago sent out color postcards of their stars with preprinted autographs. Greg was the only one to add a personal inscription. (Then I defaced it with a Dymo label, but 14-yr old me thought It was cool.) Thanks for that extra touch, it was always special to see my name.

Happy Birthday Greg Morris September 27th! 'Electrifying' as Barney Collier for entire run of Mission: Impossible & guested on the 80s remake with son Phil. Sadly lost Greg at 62 to cancer – a stark reminder that we’re going backwards today with severe cuts to healthcare research, support, & access.

Also of huge concern are the crew/staff people connected with the Kimmel Show...are they indefinitely out of a paycheck? (Or is ABC/Disney doing the minimal right thing "suspending with pay"?)

To Have And Have Not presents "one of the most basic anti-fascist statements the cinema has given us." (per film critic Robin Wood). Two photos of β€œBetty”: the B&W from Murder On The Orient Express sent circa 1974-75. Unsure if that was a repro signature, I purchased the color photo 30 years later.

In 2005 Larry King interview, she described herself as "anti-Republican... A liberal. The L-word". She added that "being a liberal is the best thing on Earth you can be. You are welcoming to everyone when you're a liberal. You do not have a small mind.” To Have And Have Not is cited as anti-fascist.

Staunch liberal Democrat who frequently proclaimed her political views, she & Bogart were among 80 Hollywood personalities to send a telegram protesting the House Un-American Activities Committee’s investigating individuals' political beliefs as violating the basic principles of American democracy.

You just put your lips together and… blow! No one else could’ve told off Bogie in To Have And Have Not. Celebrating Lauren Bacall’s birthday September 16. More than just Bogart & Bacall, her unique style so memorable in 70 years of roles on film, tv, &s stage. Her personal integrity resonates today!
