Today's FAQ Friday uses a dark teal colour scheme and asks how do I make a placing request?

Today's FAQ Friday uses a dark teal colour scheme and asks how do I make a placing request?

Answer card one of three explains that there are different routes to progress a placing request depending on where you want your child to go to school. If the request is to a local authority run school, the request must go to the local authority responsible for running the school. This may be different from the local authority area you live in. For independent or grant-aided schools, an application should be made to the local authority where the child lives.

Religious observance proposals β€˜lack clarity’, say education directors Proposed changes to the law would effectively entitle children to opt out of learning about religion – not just practising it, says ADES

Education directors body ADES is calling on the Scottish government to make β€œa clear distinction” between religious observance (RO) and religious and moral education (RME) when considering if pupils should have more of a say on whether to opt out
