i respect how narratively interesting a lot of the mechanics in DF end up, even if they're sort of sparse in direct effects; really a game that rewards reading into things

had my first civ-wide civil war in dwarf fortress on my current save... actual direct effects minimal but its fun to force the fort to go without trade caravans or migrants for years as a result of the infighting... just 19 dwarves tirelessly maintaining a bridge across the sea during the infighting
