So busy at the moment I've hardly had chance to post. So here I am; posting. Right now, cracking on with the novel. Hoorah. Least the days are getting longer and have The Traitors (such good TV!) to see me through the longest month of the year.

Happy New Year! Or are we past that now? .... hope you all had a lovely holiday whatever you did. I really don't want to go back to work next week. Currently deciding which John Hughes movie to watch with The Teenager....

If you're struggling right now, please know there are people you can reach out to. Please know you're not as alone as you might feel right now.

Threads Grim drama telling the story of a nuclear strike on Britain through the eyes of two families, tracing the events leading up to the war and the decade of devastation that follows.

If anyone fancies some really jolly viewing over Christmas I can highly recommend Threads on iPlayer. Traumatised a generation this did. If I could go back in time I would turn the TV off before my 13 year old self started watching it.

It’s the end of the year as we know it… and I feel fine. Well now. The out-of-office response is on. The school year is finished. The Christmas tree is decorated. And I have no plans for the next fortnight beyond dog walks, naps, and an obscene number of…

Don’t mind me, just posting my first blog update since June πŸ₯΄πŸ₯΄πŸ₯΄

Merry Christmas to all my friends and followers on here. I hope you all have a restful time. I am spending Christmas on my own and very much looking forward to it... walking, writing, reading, and a mince pie or two.

Currently reading Beautiful People by @amandajennings.bsky.social. Best thing you've written so far, Amanda. Really enjoying it. A great page turner and window into the underbelly of entitlement and privilege. Great story to get lost in on a birthday-day-off this week.

Right so.... I put the Xmas tree up early to brighten up the nights. A cat friendly Xmas tree, and then today the cat bit through the cord and now no lights. Bought a new tree today πŸ™ƒ. Same one. Here's what it looked light last year.... now imagine that with no lights. Note to self: hide the cord.

What is the point of an international court, or any international organisation for that matter, if the leaders of the world ignore the ruling when it suits them?!?

I naturally start to shut down mid November onwards and then I leave everything to the New Year. I'm just not in the head space this time of year at all. Luckily as I'm self employed I take off three weeks over Christmas. If I could afford it, I'd take off more.

After a small respite when the clocks went back, its now getting much darker in the mornings again. I really felt it today. I don't know why I'm surprised; this happens every year... But that run up to Xmas, I feel like I'm crawling the walls. We should all take December and January off.

Writing Health and Care Stories Do you suffer from chronic illness, or disability, or do you care for someone who does? Dr Lily Dunn explores how writing can be a powerful tool for expression.

We have a new course coming up at start of December which will be interesting to those of you who live with chronic health conditions or disability, or care for someone who does. This week @lilydunn.bsky.social wrote about it and the power of embodied writing. open.substack.com/pub/londonli...
