Where in Costa Rica were you? We visited the Nicoya Peninsula on our first trip 11 years ago and then Monte Verde/Manuel Antonio/Rancho Naturalista our last time we visited in 2023. The Rancho visit was a treat, a high end birding lodge which we typically don't go to, and during the off season.

I trapped and had the Human Society neuter the male that lives off of my compost pile, and a little extra kibble and canned food once in a while 😉

That is a heck of a service to be providing - good for you. My wife and I go out to the Owyhee Canyons area of southeastern Oregon once or twice a year, and I have driven through northern Nevada several times. That is not a place I would want to find myself stuck!

How do folks decide which of the many trail associations to support? Do you base it on areas where you have explored, where you want to explore, or are there other criteria you use to make the decision?

I have the same scar, only a little more healed! And 22 staples, that must be the standard patch kit. Good luck withe healing process. I am a big fan of protein shakes, amino acids in my water, and creatine every day - all good for building muscle.

That looks like solid form to me - how long ago did you have surgery? I am exactly 6 weeks out tomorrow and will finally ditch the sling - Milestones baby!!

I will be continuing my recovery walks now that my shoulder replacement is done and I am 1/2 way through my PT. I plan on having my pack fully loaded and into the Sawtooth Mountains by August!!
