I was thrilled to learn from Bookmark Halifax that my novel The Austens was their top selling book of 2025!

Thank you so much to Mike Hamm, Dan MacDonald, and everyone at Bookmark II for all your support. We are so lucky to have this amazing independent bookstore in our beautiful city.

C.S. Lewis and the Art of Blurbology: Part 1: The Actually Helpful Review - A Pilgrim in Narnia A few years ago, I did a series called “The Words C.S. Lewis Made Up,” with such beauties as Bulverism, rebunker, and lowerarchy. My second sweep at the project is meant to include Disneyfication, Ter...

The 2025 Mythopoeic Award Winners are Out! Tolkien’s Poetry, Urban Fantasy, and New Fiction The Mythies are out! The Mythopoeic Society released its 2025 Awards shortlists earlier this year in five categories (three fiction and two scholarship awards). Award committee members read each of the books in their category and then vote on which works should receive the coveted Mythopoeic Award. Here are the results (with US Amazon links--but ensure you order from your local independent bookstore): …

Exploring the 2025 Mythopoeic Award Inklings Scholarship Finalists It is award season! The Mythopoeic Society released its 2025 Awards shortlists earlier this year. While I had good intentions to read a lot more, there is only one category I was able to work through all of the finalists: the Inklings Studies scholarship award. This year’s slate of finalists was entirely Tolkien-focussed—four monograph (single-book) studies and a manuscript study.

Abstract: Being Hnau in the Age of AI: A View from Hogwarts (for Mythmoot XII) A technical note to readers: I have been banned from Facebook and Messenger--hopefully temporarily, as I am not guilty of espionage or whatever the issue is. If you are one of the more than 500 readers who use Facebook to get your news from A Pilgrim in Narnia, I would encourage you to sign up for Pilgrim Posts in your email box--at least until this is resolved.

Do the Inhabitants of Arda Know How Their Own Story Ends? A Thesis Theatre on Middle-earth Eschatology by Jeffrey Wade (Wed, Jun 4, 5:00pm ET) Once again, I have had the distinct pleasure to work with a Signum University MA student through their thesis process. Jeffrey Wade has completed his thesis on "Unveiling Hope: Do the Inhabitants of Arda Know How Their Own Story Ends?" You can see the full abstract and a bio by Rev. Wade below, but I think you will be intrigued by the elegance of this question.
