Alectra crews and contractors are out in full force again today continuing our line “washing blitz” to remove salt contamination, helping to prevent more power outages across York Region. We appreciate customers’ continued patience and understanding as we work through this issue.

We’re proactively washing equipment and have additional crews ready to restore power.

You may see crews responding to isolated outages caused by salt contamination. When salt mixes with moisture, it can create electrical arcing on power lines and equipment — sometimes leading to pole fires or flickering.

With stormy weather moving through our service territory today, our teams are prepared. From our control rooms to our line crews, we have a full complement of staff ready to respond if outages occur.

Stormy weather is moving through our service territory on Wednesday, with freezing rain, ice pellets and snow expected, and we’re reminding our customers to stay safe.
