We need to teach people the difference between being uncomfortable and being unsafe. Because the discomfort of the safest people is endangering the most vulnerable, all day every day.

Millionaires won't leave if you tax them
Jul 24, 2025
Time to puncture once and for all the myth of “millionaire tax flight.” The stats show no grand exodus by the rich out of jurisdictions that raise tax rates on their wealthiest. @patrioticmillionaires.org #taxtherich #inequality

The BBC News website has pages & pages of coverage related to farmers protesting inheritance tax, including events where only a few hundred turn out.
In London yesterday 100,000 people marched for trans rights, and nothing.
Imagine if it was 100,000 anti immigrant activists, they'd cover that.

When you take Saez & @gabrielzucman.bsky.social's tax burden work in combination with wealth estimates, the issues with the U.S. economy is fairly easy to narrate: the wealthiest have shifted the tax burden onto the middle class.

I’ve said this before. Orgs that undergird movements need a new members committee. The people with tender hearts and endless patience can work with the “butwhatabouts” — the neophytes. The hard cores can keep their (useful) callouses.

Reasonable people can disagree about the best ways to achieve Jewish safety, self-determination, or liberation.
Absolutely no one can justify the mass starvation of children and violent enforcement of statelessness upon another people.

It is fucking insane that we had a decade of people complaining about the dangers of cancel culture, and now literally hundreds of thousands of people are being purged from government jobs for ideological reasons, but that is not cancel culture.

Brilliant article below that describes how most millionaires are unlikely to move if their local governments begin taxing them more. Those that do move, we are probably better off without them.

I am no constitutional scholar, but I can't help but feel that "the President gets to dictate what every university can teach and what every television station should broadcast" is closer to what the founding fathers were worried about when it comes to free speech than trigger warnings on syllabi.

Columbia Agrees to $200 Million Fine to Settle Fight With Trump
You can never bend the knee enough to appease an authoritarian bully.
This is a devastating blow to academic freedom & freedom of speech at Columbia.
Never in the history of this nation has there been an administration so intent on the utter destruction of higher education as we know it.

Quite literally, this won't even register on CNN or the front pages beyond tomorrow, if it's even there at all. But entire books & wall-to-wall coverage for weeks on Joe Biden & his capacity/fitness to be president. Incredibly ugly & revealing.
