Transcribed Text: MORE FOR MEMPHIS Are you a young person who wants to make a positive change in your community? Apply to join the More for Memphis Governance Board! What is More for Memphis (MFM)? More for Memphis is a comprehensive, county-wide plan to improve the quality of life for all residents by ensuring everyone has access to the essential services and resources they need to thrive. Where did MFM come from? A coalition of youth and adult residents, nonprofit and community-based organizations, businesses, government, and philanthropy came together over three years to develop the More for Memphis plan. The plan includes a set of public policy proposals and investments designed to improve child, family, and community outcomes in our region. Where are we now? The project will start in a region called the South Memphis Zone (SMZ). This region includes the South City and Soulsville neighborhoods and parts of Orange Mound and Alcy Ball. What is the Governance Board? The More for Memphis Governance Board will hold contracted organizations accountable for improving outcomes, ratify an annual economic mobility agenda, raise philanthropic funding toward its annual agenda, advocate for public policy to advance economic mobility, and represent More for Memphis to the broader public. Resident members will be compensated at $20/hr for their participation in all governance board meetings, including an onboarding training session! Who are we recruiting to join? Youth and young adults between the ages of 16-24 Memphis residents with a footprint in the SMZ area (38109, 38106, 38126, 38126, 38114). That footprint could be that this area is where you live, go to school, go to church, grew up, have family, etc. People with an interest in advocacy and community work What is required? Be available for a thirty minute interview via Zoom with members from the More for Memphis staff. Attend 80% of board meetings.
