Epidemiological and genomic evolution of the ongoing outbreak of clade Ib mpox virus in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo - Nature Medicine Genomic and epidemiologic data suggest that the rapid spread of mpox clade I in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has happened mostly through sexual contact within densely populated areas.

The first JUA KIVU paper has been published in Nature Medicine! We show that #mpox rapidly spreads mostly through sexual contact within densely populated areas, highlighting the need for extended collaboration, health education strategies, contact tracing, clinical care and surveillance.
