Mocking your constituents’ concerns about the job you’re doing β€” or not β€” is not the flex you think it is. Retire.

An underrated advantage of reading paper books is getting your steps in by walking to the library

Have you read any other Montgomery? I have to say the Emily series is even better than Anne, IMO.

I’ll be Saturday librarian-ing, but looking forward to more of The Count of Monte Cristo (Buss translation).

Remember when we had a president who could be seen in a bookstore buying books?

Predictably lukewarm as hell, Senator. Turn up the heat! What is wrong with you and your colleagues?!

What a shame that WorldCat now requires users to log in before they can interact with records. I like to send people to WorldCat when I reference a book, so they can find it at their local library. Unfortunately, Amazon doesn’t require a loginβ€”but now WC does.

The mission creep is putting a huge damper on my love of libraries and why I got into them. I’m hearing from patrons formally and informally about what they want their library to look like and ultimately, they want community centers, not libraries.

I like the Focus Friend app from @hankgreen.bsky.social and friends. If you get the premium version ($30, I think? And Green has a history of being scrupulously ethical with companies/money), you can block app access by app, leaving what must be available to you available during focus sessions.

A partially-knit sock lies flat on a table. The sock is primarily purple, green, and blue, and features a gray UFO with a neon yellow beam extending down toward the heel. Next to the sock are two point protectors fashioned to look like donuts.

Pretty happy with how this is coming along given I pretty much DIYed the pattern pulling from existing patterns. πŸ›Έ #KnitSky

I don’t know, Mark, maybe you should call your senator.

Y’all need to start ostracizing your R colleagues. If you’re still buddy-buddy with them, they get the message they can keep this up without consequence.

From your experience in Congress, what specific actions should we be demanding of our electeds?

How about in baseball, period? I’m going with Nomar to the Cubs in 2004, even though the Red Sox went on to break the curse. Nomar deserved better. (No hate to the Cubs!)

Enjoyed Baltimore Symphony Orchestra conducted by Jonathan Heyward with pianist Denis Kozhukhin tonight. Selections were Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 4 and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 4, both chosen as statements on antifascism. 🐸
