Women didnโt ruin the workplace. Capitalism did
When your debate centers on whether women should exist in public, youโve already lost.
Did women ruin the workplace? No! Did I personally ruin my own weekend writing about the cynical fuckery that led to the New York Times asking that question? I sure did!
Huge thanks to @moiradonegan.bsky.social for lending her expertise and insight to my ranting

We working class ghosts (and guides) are feeling hopeful about NYC today. High fives to our fellow gig workers, underpaid adjuncts, underemployed historians, and artists-working-three-jobs this morning.

For National Cat Day, my favorite kitty-Hollywood connection: 152 black cats (and their owners) auditioning for the title role in a film adaptation of Edgar Allan Poeโs โThe Black Catโ (LIFE magazine, 1961).

A Lifelong Upper West Sider says: "I was excited by the prospect of an UWS ghost tour, but also apprehensive that it might just be a rehash of history and stories that I already know. I was pleasantly surprised to also learn many new spooky things about my neighborhood." This is HUGE praise.

Sorry, boo baskets are lame, not boo buckets (which are awesome). Also, I just read the article and these are ... adults? Doing this for other adults? Yikes.

A few years ago a neighbor left Boo Buckets on everyone's doormat with the cutesy "You've been BOOed!" note and the response, unanimously, was "WTF is this shit?" So glad we live in NYC, where we trick or treat in bodegas like normal people.

On a totally unrelated note, I spent my weekend leading Victorian cemetery tours. What a fun way to learn about unvaccinated children! You can count up all their tiny gravestones!

Deeply moved by some of our recent customer reviews. Really! Don't laugh! When you pour your soul into something and it is appreciated, it's an otherworldly feeling. Thank you to everyone who has supported and is still supporting our very small, very heartfelt business.

I wonder why nobody has ever recommended Tales from the Haunted South? It is by far the best of the three. (3/?)

The two books that influenced me the most while writing Invisible Women were Ghostland and Tales from the Haunted South. Many, many negative reviews of our books recommend folks read Ghostland instead, as it is superior to our book. Fair enough, but ... (1/?)

I remember this case so vividly (I also grew up in Ontario, was about 15 at the time) and I've been ambivalent about true crime all my life... and doing the Thing I Do For Money absolutely makes me fear being stained by blood and greed. Definitely the Substack for me.
