A few years back I met and spoke with VW designer Gunhild Liljequist in Germany. She introduced the Clerk plaid and golf-ball gear change on the original Golf GTI. At the time I met her she owned and drove a red Up!, so there's that wee link as well 😁

I occasionally daily-ed it in the summer-time but I never drove it on salty winter roads, I mostly drove it at weekends and in the holidays. It took 4 and 5 hundred mile day trips in its stride with its 1200 engine. I was only able to drive it once last year. Hopefully someone else can enjoy it now.

That's near-as-dammit the same as mine! ***checks it's still in camera bag*** 😁

I sold my Beetle after 20 years of ownership. It broke my heart but I knew I'd not be physically able to look after it properly. A 50 year old car needs a lot of care. I now have a VW Up! (the concept car was rear engine rear drive, so in my mind is the spiritual successor to the Beetle).

Thanks Peter, I scanned the negatives with my Plustek 8300i. The lens was probably at f3.5 or thereabouts and shutter speeds 1/60s or 1/125s. It was a wild week of rain and wind 😁

Sounds like a way more interesting life than many people lead! You should be proud that you have done so many different things 👍

Thanks Steve, appreciated. It was a challenging day to be out trying to make photos. I was getting blown around a lot, the shot looking out through the entrance was made while trying to get some shelter from the elements.
