Ok, so I've already talked about dragons so.... While they have scales, not sure they count for this one...
It's a bit too cold for non-dragon reptiles in our current locale.

In Hartura, there are cousins to the dragons who watch over the great seas. Born of the first drop of rain, they have irridescent scales and are shaped like a cross between a #seamonster and a #dragon.

Ok... So maybe aliens? Among the people of Hartura who call themselves, the children of the moon, there is a story about the Moon and the Sea. Wandering celestial entities, they see so much potential for life on this new planet that they decide to come and offer their gifts.
