Also: Robert Blake and Patricia Arquette are never in the same scenes. That’s crazy. On the second watch, I was wondering if they would appear together at the hotel, it was Robert Blake spying out the window like a demon, where you might imagine Renee.

Lost Highway is about a guy who can’t be consistently present because he keeps hearing echoes of other possible lives.

Something I didn’t really catch before: Fred calls and Renee isn’t home with no explanation. Then at the party he calls his house and Robert Blake IS at his home, also with no explanation.

In that way, he did explain and expound on his films, he just did it with the films themselves. It would be redundant to do press about it. It would undercut the real learning process.

I suppose Lost Highway is another example of David Lynch teaching us how to watch his movies. Sort of offering what it’s like to make several versions of the same strange dreams with different actors.

There is a trade, but, maybe Robert Blake as the “fence” is just a catalyst for this reaction. He is never really created or destroyed.

I don’t know what it means to have Bathazar Getty switched-out, or synthesized back into Bill Pullman, (I’m not sure that’s what’s happening) only to have Robert Blake become this killing hand for Fred.

I was wondering if Lost Highway is a movie asking about what “cheating” really is if every individual is just one conscious being atomized by delusions.

I really love the moment when this specific incarnation of “The Arm”, off camera, hands him a knife to kill Dick Laurent. The timing is sort of frenzied.

I can really see Lost Highway as a series of isolated images, especially faces. Robert Blake, Robert Loggia, and Patricia Arquette, specifically. Very haunting.
