I've been working on another artist's book I'm calling "Analyze." One of its features is a checkbook ledger that I've altered into a mini circular accordian book. It's going to be a part of the larger book as a pop-up element.

Another Breakfast Portait.

We only poach eggs on the weekend, so I've collected these images over several yeats.

Well, to kick off here on Bluesky, I'm going to post a series of "Breakfast Portraits." We have an egg poacher that creates interestingly shaped, evocative egg shapes that I have a lot of fun with. Enjoy.

There have been changes in myself as well. At first it was all just social and I was shy to post about my art at all. Then I took some art business classes and I started to use social media to “promote” my art, and it became a job. But I found that the ROI was minuscule, so my efforts ran out of gas

Then there is the outside world. When I was trying to use social media professionally, I avoided talking about politics or world events at all. Now it’s all gotten so dire that posting ANYTHING seems somehow trite or inappropriate, like asking someone on a date at a funeral.

Now I barely post at all, about anything. I spend a few minutes glancing over my feed, give a few likes and put it down.
Right now, I’m doing deeply personal, experimental artwork. I would like to share it, but there is so much BAGGAGE, I just can’t seem to get myself to do it.

I guess I’m hoping to hit a reset button. So, maybe I’ll start by getting some really dark things off my chest, then hopefully shut up about it.

What has happened with the last election is dire. I believe this path our nation is going down has just begun. I can’t watch, I just can’t watch. The “natural” disasters are going to get worse as the climate continues to change, which will affect the economy, which will further affect politics.

AI & social media will continue to manipulate, which will affect politics. The wealthiest dudes in the world will eclipse the powers of elected governments. My impulse is to grab onto everything I’ve got and hang on. Even if I strike a light tone when I post, I am deeply affected by what is going on

So there. This is my new Blue Sky account. Meanwhile, I will try to clear out some of the annoying ads on facebook and Instagram, and be more intentional about how I use it. Hopefully some of that small town flavor will return.

I never thought I would ever pine for the early days of facebook, but I do. Like a small town that has morphed into urban sprawl, social media has bloated into something very different than when I first got onboard. With the way things are going, many of my friends are moving to Blue Sky
