These infinite planes are more commonly known as Super Liminal Planes, named after Liminal Spaces

The only downside is past that point, the energy required to return to your original 3d slice of the world is too high for anyone to carry, making them lost in infinite planes of random places (Like libraries, schools, and grass planes)

It seems really strange, but if you place a object far far into the 4th spatial dimension, it seems to duplicate itself near infinitely.

New technologies, such as temporally storing items in the new spatial dimension (Specific bags made for this purpose were called "Hammer spaces") and cloaking technology (Temporarily stepping out of the current slice of 3 dimension space and stepping back in) were invented

Of course, humans being humans, they used this 4th spatial dimension to store waste. As their understanding of this foreign land expanded, so did their understanding of it.

Fun fact: Because of fracking into the fourth spatial dimension, humans have learnt 3 things
1: They accidently ripped a hole in the universe
2: The world was never originally made in 3 dimensions
3: We weren't the first to tear open the fabric holding our third dimension
