I dropped by to see the patch of Lathraea clandestina Purple Toothwort introduced 17 years ago to Crack Willows in a pit near Norwich. It’s doing well there but I didn’t expect to find it growing directly from the bark a meter above ground! The weirdest epiphyte? #wildflowerhour

I love swings, there are far too few for adults. My favourite was on a campsite in Oregon, 2 wooden framed swings the same sort of size as the one you shared hidden in some trees but when you swung high the view was of the Oregon coast and out to sea. I was there for hours

Love it, do you have the actual tin?

27.03.2025 09:08 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

For the colour purple we have gone for some tin designs.

Until the 1990s Barnsley was home to the Barnsley Canister Company who made beautiful tins which were distributed all over the world.

Polar plunge

Polar bear Nora loves to dive, so care staff came up with a way to safely place a camera at the bottom of her pool to watch her underwater. Beary cool!

If you had 6days and nights in #Athens with family (including 3 very active children age 5-10)

followed by 3 days and nights in Athens alone with your partner to relax what would you do?

Where would you go?

Where would you eat?

This is for October 2025
I’ve never been before

A photograph of a velvet worm - an orange and purple-patterned invertebrate composed of many soft segments and tiny spined legs. The velvet worm has long, segmented antenna and a pair of organs on its head which squirt glue for prey capture.

Introducing New Zealand's latest Bug of the Year- the magnificent Ngāokeoke / Velvet Worm!

NZ has two genera: one lays eggs (Ooperipatellus, 1st photo) and another gives live birth (Peripatoides, 2nd). They also deposit sperm which burrow through their partner's skin, but that's another story! πŸ§ͺ
